Starting an at home business can be one of the scariest things you can do. They require time, dedication, money, and many other things that most moms feel they do not have a lot of. Then there is the pressure of “This has to work”. Most of the time the reason why we are looking to start a business of any sort is because we know we are worth more than what is being provided to us. If you are tired of feeling like you are not getting what you deserve and you are looking for an opportunity to work on your passion, read this blog. I promise you will not be disappointed.
I can tell you as a mom the biggest obstacle I had to get around before starting a business is myself. I was my own worst enemy. I was afraid that if I spent time doing anything else my family would suffer. I also felt that if it did not work all that time would have been wasted for nothing. It took me a while to realize that these negative thoughts are where my comfort zone lied. We doubt ourselves because we know the discomfort that will lie ahead. By no means am I trying to convince you that it will be easy. Starting a successful business is one of the most challenging things you will ever deal with. The perils of the unknown that you will face can be debilitating. The pain you will feel from self-proclaimed failure will traumatize you to the point you will want to quit. I often ask myself why would any mom want to go through this? As a mother you are consistently face will challenges that say you are not good enough. Your confidence and self-esteem is takes a blow every day you wake up. Why would you want to add this additional burden to your life? I am here to tell you something you already know… It’s because it’s worth it!!!
Answer this question, if you needed someone to accomplish a task would you want someone who has experience or someone who doesn’t? The question is rhetorical, everyone would want someone with experience. As a mother you have already had the experience of starting and running a business. The only difference is the reward. Think about all the pain you went through with something like teaching your children to eat solid foods. The first time I took a spoon to my kids mouth I thought they would never learn how to eat. It made me feel like a failure. One of the main things that is needed to keep my child alive, I was failing at teaching them how to do it. I still remember it to this day, this first time my babies ate a whole serving using a spoon you would have thought I won a Nobel Prize. A lot of people will never understand the burden of this has to work, not because I need it but because I have little ones who depend on it. This is a psychological advantage for any business owner. As mother for every task you will need for your business you have the advantage of not only saying that I have been here before but I made it through. Bring a child into this work is the ultimate sacrifice. You are literally risking your well-being, sacrificing your dreams, and altering your future for someone else. All this being said, if you are still doubting if you can do it I am here to tell you that YOU CAN. You just need to put the work in like you always have, and everything will follow.
